"Be tolerant of THE SKIPPER who disagrees with you... The Schipperke has a right to his Ridiculous Opinion."

Today we re-inforced the front-yard boundaries on
our property. "To keep out EVIL TERRORISTS?" you
ask. No, to keep the climb-the-huge-wall dog
from frequent neighborhood excursions.
It is astounding how AIR JORDAN has come out
of retirement this week, just as our very own AIR
JORDAN has sized up the wall situation and added
climbing to his flying skills.

This morning, brought one of those Schipperke PTSD
flashbacks to mind. I recalled the day The Divine Miss
Melanie leaped from our truck and merrily bounded
off into bear country in Yellowstone Park on our way
home from SRY2K in Montana.
She ran and ran, oblivious to calls or her surroundings.
Then, just as suddenly, she stopped and sat there.
"I'm ready to be picked up now. Get me and take me to
my new home in the Land of Enchantment."
Today, the front gate opens for a second on our street
and Jordan heads out on a mission from the
Schipperke Higher Power. He crosses the street,
rapidly goes straight up the next street, then into an
alley and beyond with me calmly-but-rapidly in pursuit.
Jordan is totally oblivious to my calls; he is simply
on his "mission." He goes in and out several yards, says
Howdy to several neighbor dogs, and then, after we
have wandered, or rather "bee-lined" four blocks away
from SkippertownUSA, he decides that all is well and
comes up to me to be carried home. We turn and greet
New Mexico Deb who has leaped into her truck
and followed as backup. Jordan and I get into the
truck as if absolutely nothing out of the ordinary just
happened. And I guess nothing really did.
Or did it?

If you can start your day without caffeine or pep pills,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can overlook when people take things out on you when through no fault of yours something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep well without the aid of drugs,
you are probably a SCHIPPERKE.

We find respite from our shock and grief at all that is happening in the world
with the CONTINUING antics of our new beloved JORDAN. He has been with us
for almost a week and our lives have changed by in leaps, bounds, and barks.
Never believed we would have a Schip and certainly not two schips but
NEVER three Skips...And with each passing day we wonder how life even
thought about existing without Three Schipperkes.
The Three have now adjusted to eating out of one big feeder of dry food
as well as sharing water bowls. each has claimed a found sleeping place at night.
Melanie and Skipper have never been able to leap up to our bed;
now we are blessed with not only a cat in bed but a large Schipperke, Air Jordan
who doesn't even break a sweat leaping onto the bed. It took him all of 1 minute
to 'let go' of his crate in lieu of our, thankfully Kingsize, bed.
The Three have each claimed individual television watching zones,
begging areas and have each developed a
unique relationship with PUMA our rapidly growing cat who takes no guff from any Schip.

My delightfully good and wonderfully fast at the keyboard wife, New Mexico Deb,
is still interested in helping with Skippertown Updates...but for now you got me, Jeff Hartzer, on the line.
We are day three or four (if you are counting) as the 'possible FOREVER HOMERS'
of Jordan the great and wonderfully fast on flies and leaps and bounds. And all continues to develop quite as if life had always been this way.
Our SKIPPER,MELANIE,PUMA,the fast growing kitten
have each in their own way adopted to the new situation with remarkable ease.
JORDAN loves Bunnytown and all it seems to mean to him.
His crate has been put away into the basement.
He sleeps with pillows...runs with cats...and watches bunnies with his paw on the bunny wall.
Just about every minute or even millasecond is PHOTO worthy...
For now though we just LIVE here and soon the changes will
be so mundane as to allow a photograph or two...
Meanwhile, it is a joy to be alive and well with
The SKIPPERTOWN crew.
