Melanie got a spanking tonight for the 10,003rd time.
She had explored the garbage can on the Ming Dynasty rug, which was the one thing my mother told me would be mine one day. Melanie is an exquisite trash explorer. I don't usually spank her and never that hard, but tonight I was having a bout of low self-esteem. Melanie has done well in her teaching the joys of trash exploring to her lovah, PUMA, the kitten. Dumpster diving is somewhat of a joy the kids have picked up from me, the Chief of Dumpster Operations at the SAVE THE BUNNIES FOUNDATION, our local Farmer's Market dumpster. Tuesday, July 24, 2001
BunnytownUSA has experienced some bad acts of nature from our elderly cat, Tigger who is a great hunter.
We have let Tigger move on to another home and she seems happy there so far. It is tough to see a baby bunny ravaged by a cat (even a cat we love). Bunnytown has many burrows and has multilevels. When we give away bunnies it is hard for us humans to catch them. Sadly, not so for our 'former' cat Tigger. We do have a new kitten named PUMA who seems to care little and is in fact SCARED of venturing into the BUNNYTOWN world. This is a good thing. Tuesday, July 17, 2001
I am just back from Missoula, Montana.
On the return flight, the pilot noted that you could see the Grand Tetons out the window. I saw them and recalled the day last summer when Melanie went high tailing (without a tail of course) out from our truck down the road at the Grand Tetons. Miraculously, we got her back into the car before bears or cars got to her. We were on our way back to New Mexico from the SRY2K event and had only had Melanie for two days. I am off for a weekend in buffalo land
where just a year ago we rescued little MISS Melanie. This year flying to Missoula instead of driving to Roundup and no, the DIVINE MISS will not be coming with... Besides MISS M is way too busy with her new love, PUMA... who found relief in the trashcan last night !  Saturday, July 07, 2001

It is a remarkable moment when you can simultaneously
pet a black Schipperke and a black kitten in your lap at the same time. MELANIE is SO IN LOVE with the new Kitten, PUMA, it is ridiculous. And for those who don't know, my wife and I so enjoyed an evening with THE ORIGINAL Miss Melanie back in January of the new millennium. We be delighted!! MELANIE continues to be totally IN LOVE with PUMA... SKIPPER continues to be NOT awed by PUMA. A full Year has Passed since MELANIE joined our family. It twas a little over a year ago that we drove to Montana for the incredible SRY2K Roundup. I can still hear people saying, Oh, you don't want THAT dog! But we did and she has come a long way in miles and behaviors since then. |
